COMMISSIONING

Commissioning Fact:
M&A has created a commissioning team that has over 40 years of combined mechanical and control systems startup and testing experience.

With a portfolio of more than 50 projects; including many LEED® certified projects. Moses & Associates, Inc. (M&A) has become a recognized leader in the field of building commissioning and retro-commissioning within the Southeastern part of the U.S. As a firm, M&A has been providing commissioning and retro-commissioning services for over 10 years. Because our commissioning staff spends time, designing systems, performing energy studies and doing facility assessments, in addition to commissioning, we have developed a unique understanding of building systems, systems design, and facility operations. This diverse workload and background have allowed us to bring the highest level of value to the building commissioning process. This ensures systems are functional, energy efficient, and maintainable.

M&A has established a reputation for commissioning mechanically complex and sophisticated educational and research facilities. We have established ourselves as experts in commissioning Bio Safety Level 2, 3, & 4 facilities, as well as animal holding facilities. The control systems used in these facilities are complex and represent the most critical elements of institutional HVAC systems. M&A has created a commissioning team that has over 40 years of combined mechanical and control systems startup and testing experience. Heading up this team is David L. Brooks P.E., a principal Owner in the firm. Mr. Brooks is one of only a few registered control systems engineers in the commissioning industry.

What We Do

Design Review

• Perform operational design review with the goal of ensuring minimal energy use and cost.
• Prevent unnecessary capital costs from improperly sized mechanical equipment.
• Avoid costly change orders due to incomplete or un-coordinated design information. Validate that the needs of maintenance and operations staff are incorporated into the design.

Installation Inspection

• Review design documentation and inspect the installation to ensure that equipment meets design specifications and is installed per contract documents and per established industry standards.
• Inspect systems for compliance, performance and maintainability.

Systems Performance Verification

• Validate that systems work properly by rigorous testing under various loads and seasonal conditions.
• Coordinate corrective actions that favor the Owner. Provide operations review before equipment warranty expiration.

Maintenance and Operations Training

• Promote long-term success through comprehensive systems training of maintenance and operations staff.
• Verify that operations and maintenance manuals meet project specifications, are comprehensive and organized to support long term maintenance requirements.
